Video:  Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat crash near SFO East Bay, CA. 7/7/1945

July 17, 1945 Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat Bu No 94794 U.S. Navy assigned to VBF-19 crashed in Contra Costa County killing the pilot, Robert V. Clark, Ensign, USNR.

 On April 27, 2014 members of the Aviation Archaeology and Heritage Association led by David Trojan, placed a memorial marker at the crash site of the F8F-1 in which Ensign Robert Clark lost his life. Pictured are David Trojan placing the marker, and attaching the the memorial plaque. Vicki McCurry looks on as her husband Dave McCurry photo documents this important occasion. This is another fine example of helping the public to reflect, and remember those who have lost their lives while in service to our nation.(Photos courtesy Dave McCurry)
