Aircraft Wrecks in the Mountains and Deserts of the American West

On the morning of 11/7/09 the last air-worthy Piasecki HUP-2 (PV-18) N183YP departed Adelanto Airport and crashed shortly afterword killing all three men on board. Family members and friends constructed a memorial to honor John Goble, Jimmy Jantz, and HUP-2 pilot, Joe Pike, Sr. at the crash site on the Mojave Desert.

Crosses, flowers, flags, and a photo of N183YP mark the crash site. All memorials great or small betoken the love, grief, and loss felt by those left behind. (G. P. Macha)
